Coaching for performance and professional development is not an annual occurrence that is blocked off on the corporate calendar. It is well known that most employees seek other employment, not because of the job, but because of an inability of the manager to set the tone where everyone feels accountable, heard and understood. Higher performance teams are those that interact and listen to each other a lot, are not afraid of new ideas, include people from diverse backgrounds and more women.

Your role is to expand the horizon of possibility for every employee that reports to you.

Your success depends on the example you set and your commitment to creating partnerships of trust with your employees, co-creating professional development plans, being highly organized, having regular communication with feedback on performance and building authentic relationships.

The purpose of the Coaching for Performance and Professional Development program is to help you, as a leader, to build your influencing and coaching skills to help your employees:

  • Clarify their story and identify the unique contribution they make to the organization;
  • Identify and build key competencies necessary for their roles;
  • Embrace performance feedback by taking action to make a difference; and
  • Accept challenges and stretch goals to enhance their professional and career development.

When you help your employees clarify their story and identify the unique contribution they make to the organization, you will positively influence the impact they have on the organization, colleagues, customers and stakeholders. And when your team contributes to better results, everyone experiences a greater sense of purpose, more fulfillment and quality of life at work and home.

The program will introduce you to four tools for focused coaching conversations and feedback and one tool for professional development and tracking progress.

The program is contained within a coaching framework and has three professional development steps:

  1. Define – Helping employees clarify their story and identify the unique contribution they make to the organization;
  2. Differentiate – Helping employees embrace performance feedback and build key competencies necessary for their roles; and
  3. Deliver – Helping employees commit to professional development goals resulting in measurable impacts as a result of their PD growth

Practicum, tools, tips and templates

Coaching for Performance and Professional Development follows an integrative approach – Integrative comes from the Latin; integrātus – to renew, restore, make things whole. Thus an integrative leader is well grounded, authentic, congruent and focused. An integrative leader can live with ambiguity and uses dialogue to synthesize ideas and viewpoints to engage others in contributing to a more aligned and strategic organization.

Program duration – 1 day – includes pre-work and post-program practicum. Can also include on-the-job coaching assessments and feedback.
